Charlotte Pride 2016 Guide
Cherrytree Records 10th Anniversary Logo
Cherrytree Records is a Los Angeles based record label that focuses on rising talent. They’re brought stars like Lady Gaga, Robyn, and Ellie Goulding to the limelight. 2015 was the tenth anniversary of the label’s founding and they decided to hold a contest to determine who would design the label’s celebratory logo.
Being a huge fan of the label, of course I entered without hesitation. I entered three designs and this design was chosen as the winner. As a big music fan and a longtime fan of Cherrytree, it was a huge honor.
Charlotte Pride 2015 Pride Guide
Charlotte Pride is a yearly event in Charlotte, NC that promotes equality and celebration amongst the LGBTQ community. This weekend event is widely promoted across Charlotte and all surrounding major cities. Be it social media posts, street banners, print advertisements, Charlotte Pride utilizes many resources in promoting the event every year.
The biggest item made during this event is the Pride Guide, which begins distribution a few weeks prior to the event. This provides full details of events, headliners, advertisers, and more information surrounding the event while also utilizing the event's theme.
For the 2015 Pride Guide, I provided graphic design for many promotional aspects. The Pride Guide being the biggest project. I tacked layout and creative for the design, including the geometric Charlotte skyline which appeared on the special edition event T-Shirts.
More images, including the digital Pride Guide, can be seen here.
Charlotte Pride T-Shirts
Another important component of my Charlotte Pride work are the festival T-Shirts. Over the years, the only shirt sold simply had the logo on it. Starting with my work on the 2015 Pride Guide, they decided to introduce a limited edition event T-Shirt using elements from the Pride Guide design. The 2015 shirt, including a geometric Charlotte skyline, was a hit and therefore, the tradition carried on to 2016, using the splatter paint design from the 2016 Pride Guide.
The Circle Walkers
“Controversy” is a song by Natalia Kills off of her 2013 album, Trouble. The track reads more of a list of the controversial subjects that society has a fascination with. I took those things literally for this design. It was initially designed for fun, but was later used in a contest held by Cherrytree Records for art inspired by the album.
Gotham Poster Contest
Gotham premiered in 2014 on Fox as a prequel to the Batman series, showing a much younger Bruce Wayne in the years before he eventually became Batman. Fox held a poster contest for fans to design their own key art for the show and provided images of all of the main images as well as scenic shots of and around Gotham. This was the design I submitted for entry.
